The problem
A higher-education client running event and conference programs on Swoogo wanted registrants to get a genuine self-service experience once they’d signed up: browse and filter their sessions, see everything on a calendar, view their own CRM-linked registration details, all without leaving the Swoogo event microsite. Here’s the constraint that made it hard. None of it could be a separate hosted web app. It had to run as a page inside Swoogo’s own theme and page-builder system, using only the templating and client-side scripting primitives that builder actually exposes. Those primitives are normally enough for styled content and simple widgets. Getting something this stateful out of them was another matter.
The approach / solution
- Built a 1,300+ line template entirely within Swoogo’s native Twig templating system: multi-filter session browsing, a calendar view, and CRM-linked registrant data, all rendered and kept interactive as a single Swoogo page, with no separate hosted app behind it. Swoogo’s page builder supports only Twig templates, so everything here was delivered inside that constraint.
- Rounded out the same client’s self-service experience with companion widgets built the same way: an event-directory listing (with and without thumbnail images), a CRM-driven student task-list/tracker widget, and a PDF list-and-download tool for course materials.
- Kept all of it inside Swoogo’s own Twig templating layer, the same page-builder-native constraint every client in this theme library works under. This build reaches a scale and complexity none of the other 20+ client folders in the library touch.
Outcome / result
This is internally verified as the single largest and most technically complex template in a 20+ client Swoogo theme/component library. It’s a working, in-production self-service registrant portal that behaves like a full web application while running entirely as one Swoogo theme page, built in Swoogo’s own Twig templating system, with no separate hosted app.
Why it matters for enterprise event-tech
Most Swoogo work stays at the API-integration layer. This shows the opposite skill: getting something this stateful and this large to behave correctly inside a page-builder’s own templating constraints. That’s a distinct, harder-to-find capability, and one that matters directly to a Swoogo partner agency or in-house Swoogo team — plus it extends the same platform depth into higher-education and institutional event programs specifically.
