Registration Analytics That Track More Than Just Traffic

A full GTM container with custom dataLayer logic underneath it, wired into an event company's Swoogo registration pages so real conversion events flow through.

The problem

This event production company wanted to know what actually happened on its Swoogo registration pages: where people started, where they dropped off, which ticket type converted. A basic visit counter couldn’t answer any of that.

The approach / solution

  • Installed a full Google Tag Manager container directly on the client’s Swoogo event pages.
  • Built custom dataLayer logic underneath it, so the events a marketing team actually cares about — registration starts, completions, ticket-type selections — get pushed through as structured data GTM can pick up.
  • Left the container ready to route into whatever downstream analytics or ad platform the client points it at, without touching the underlying Swoogo pages again.

Outcome / result

The GTM container runs live across this client’s Swoogo events today, firing dataLayer events for the registration actions the marketing team tracks.

Why it matters for enterprise event-tech

A raw visit count tells an organizer people showed up. Real dataLayer events tell them where people dropped off, which ticket type converted, and what to test next. That gap is usually the difference between a marketing team guessing and one working from numbers.
