The problem
Early-bird pricing on this client’s registration form wasn’t recalculating correctly once a registrant changed their session selections mid-form. Their sessions list needed a table view showing presentation numbers, session types, and names — something the default agenda block didn’t offer. And certain sessions needed to gray out for registrants who didn’t qualify for them, based on specific field values on the registration record. Three separate problems. One Swoogo account.
The approach / solution
- Fixed the early-bird pricing bug by having the registration form submit twice on a session-selection change: once without session-picker fields to clear the old selection, then again with the full data, forcing the price to recalculate against the correct session set.
- Built a sessions table widget directly inside Swoogo’s native Twig templating system, listing presentation numbers, session types, and session names in one table view.
- Built a session gray-out tool that reads specific field values on a registrant’s record and grays out sessions they don’t qualify for, right on the agenda page.
Outcome / result
All three fixes run live on this client’s Swoogo account today: correct early-bird pricing regardless of how many times a registrant changes their session picks, a sessions table view replacing the default list, and sessions grayed out automatically for registrants who don’t qualify.
Why it matters for enterprise event-tech
None of these three are large builds on their own. Together, they’re evidence of the kind of ongoing, responsive theme-layer work a Swoogo account actually needs once it’s live — pricing edge cases, display gaps, and eligibility rules that only surface after registrants start using the form for real.
