The problem
WhatsApp isn’t everyone’s default. Some attendees don’t have it installed. Some are on a carrier plan where SMS is what actually reaches their phone. And staff running a live conference need to know which messages landed, not just which ones were sent.
The approach / solution
- Built bulk SMS sending as its own channel alongside this client’s WhatsApp tooling, for attendees or moments where SMS is the more reliable path.
- Added a per-recipient delivery log for every send, so staff can check status instead of assuming a broadcast worked.
- Wired both into the same registration record the account’s wallet-pass and messaging tools already share.
Outcome / result
Bulk SMS runs in production for this client, with delivery logs staff check after every send.
Why it matters for enterprise event-tech
A message that silently failed to deliver is worse than never sending one — staff believe an attendee got the update when they didn’t. A visible delivery log closes that gap on a channel that still reaches people WhatsApp can’t.
